Policy & Handbook
(last updated 3/4/2001)
Welcome to Bizzy Beaver Day Care. This is a state registered family daycare. My name is Kimberly Fruin. I have 10+ years experience working as a Coordinator and teacher in a Day Care Center. I have created this handbook to have a greater understanding between us. This handbook will cover Business Policies, Philosophies and expectations.
In order to make our relationship as enjoyable as possible, the following pages contain mutually beneficial requirements, which are necessary to ensure that there are no misunderstandings between parent and provider.
Bizzy Beaver Day Care provides a safe, clean, nurturing and loving environment. I want to help children grow physically, emotionally and socially at their own pace. Since there is a broad range of behaviors exhibited by children, what works for some children may not work for others. I will tailor my teaching approach to accommodate the needs of the individual child. Some of the activities your child will experience are: large motor skills, small motor skills, language, math, science, art, computer activities and social interaction. Children will be taught to respect each other, adults, and property. Development of children's confidence and self esteem is a goal of my program.
Young children do really well when the program has a structured lesson plan. Lesson plans help the day go more smoother and allows the children to anticipate coming events and aids in achieving a variety of goals. I will adhere to my written schedule to the best of my ability. There will be times when I have to make adjustments to the lesson plan.
Communication is very important to me. I am open to any questions, concerns, or feedback you may have that are oriented towards a positive outcome for children. Any serious concerns or issues may be discussed in private, during after hours, by appointment. Conferences will not be part of your child's routine, however should you want to have a conference, you may schedule one with me.
I will handout a newsletter monthly. This letter will consist of topics of the month, theme days, my days off and other happenings. You are welcome to contribute to our newsletter.
Parents will receive a daily note consisting of what your child had for lunch, activities and any other concerns.
I am available between the hours of 7:00am - 5:00pm. If you are calling during the day and I do not answer, it may be because I'm busy with the children, but you can leave a message. I will get back to you as soon as possible. The best time to call is during naptime.(12:30 - 2:30).
